Frenkiel and Ponti were an odd duo emerging from post war U.S and Italy.
They met in the swinging Amalfi Coast of the early seventies. Both were deeply involved in the music and art scene. Alan Frenkiel was a lover of the arts, curating exhibitions, writing stories, and he was the manager and co-founder of Napoli Centrale, the group that started the Neapoltian jazz-rock explosion in the seventies.
Franca Ponti was an artist, a painter and crafter, spending her life exploring the realms and bounderies of her art. They then moved to Montenero Val Cocchiara in the mountains of Molise where they enteretained numerous members of the arts, living “a secluded life full of visitors”.
The Foundation is the continuation of that life.
The Frenkiel and Ponti Foundation has created an artist residency programme offering time, an inspiring environment, facilities, conversation and community that enables you to create or not create.
We don’t expect payment and we don’t expect anything in return.
Once you arrive at the Foundation, everything is covered for your stay:
Accommodation, work areas, local transportation, food, drink etc. We only ask that you purchase your flights and organise transfers from the airport in Naples yourself. We provide cooked dinners 6 days a week and lunch provisions, which you may want to supplement with your own additions.
Please take a look at our FAQ, all the questions you have can be usually be answered there. We currently select a mix of up to 5 creatives at once (artists, musicians, writers, sculptors, photographers and digital artists.)
All income from renting our spaces goes towards funding the residency.
Our flats are available to rent on Airbnb, perfect for a peaceful getaway and holiday.
The Creative Package
For creatives, we offer a heavily discounted Creative Package that includes access to our art, music, or writing studios. As part of this package, creatives can enjoy a large discount on accommodation, making it an ideal space for those looking to immerse themselves in creativity, whether for a week or a few months.
This is only available for creatives with proof of practice.
The Events Package
For groups or instructors, our Events Package provides exclusive access to our entire space, including customised services like meals, activities, and cleaning. This package is perfect for yoga workshops, corporate retreats, or creative workshops. Whether you're hosting an event or organizing a retreat, our space is versatile and designed to suit your needs.
